Warres Warrior Porto Reserve is the oldest brand of port in the world, having been shipped continuously since the 1750s. Its easy to see why this is a crowd-pleaser and a bargain ($15). If youve never had a port wine, this is approachable and a great introduction to the "ruby" style. If you love port and are looking for a value go-to port, give this one a try.
There is plenty going on in the glass, with red fruit aromas of cooked cherries and plums, rich and spicy molasses, and all this with a savory undertone. The spice is subtle on the nose, but jumps out when you taste the wine. A warm, peppery spiciness and a spicy clove flavor stand out from the first sip into the long finish. The cooked red fruit flavors are bolstered by a dose of sweetness.
